Waiting for ‘The One’

People choose to wait until marriage to have sex for various reasons, while others aren’t necessarily waiting until marriage, but are waiting for their one true love.  Sex can be a very intense part of a relationship that young people may decide that they are not ready to handle.

This is why some choose to wait to have sex until they find “The One,” the person that they vow to spend the rest of their life with.

Why wait for “The One?”

  • Avoid potential risks such as unplanned pregnancy or contracting an STD
  • Religious reasons
  • Avoiding other risks such as emotional distress.

Sex is a powerful force that can cause a person to feel a strong connection to another person. Some decide that they are not ready for this at a young age because they are not ready to determine if their current partner is the right one for them. Those who choose abstinence may decide that they want to stay clear of potential emotional, physical, or even psychological distress that can come from an unstable relationship.

Regardless of whether you choose to wait until marriage or wait until you find the one, it is important to make your own decisions based on your beliefs and goals.
